About the Course
This course aims at giving an overview of linear algebra – theory, computation and at its current applications to core areas of engineering
Course Objectives(What will you learn)
During the course, the participants will be exposed to both algebraic and geometric approach to linear algebra and key ideas of vector spaces and basis, eigen decomposition, singular value decomposition along with applications.
Who should attend
The course is intended for undergraduate engineering stream students from various branches and Faculty.
Out station students / candidates have to make their arrangements for accommodation and boarding
Course Outline and schedule
System of Linear Equations – Consistent equations and solutions – inconsistent equations and least square solutions
Geometric Aspects of Linear Algebra-Vector Spaces and Linear Transformations-Vector and Matrix Norms
Eigenvalues and Eigenvectors – Real symmetric matrices, diagonalization, Singular value decomposition -Rank and Dimension Reduction
Applications of Linear Algebra including PCA, Data Compression, Data Sciences and others
Exam – both Theory and Laboratory
